Solace in the moonlight.
A short piece of poetry.
Hey everyone! Today’s post is quite succinct, so I will not be saying much.
I’ve been quite hung up on schoolwork and other things lately, so for today’s post, I will just be showing you a poem I composed. It talks about finding solace (comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness) in the eventful life of the poet, which I thought was quite fitting.
Without further ado, I present to you,
Solace in the moonlight
(By Samuel T.K.N.)
Work.
A never-ending cycle.
Biting at me.
People hunting down me
like I’m a
wanted fugitive.
—
Family.
I’m broken.
Parents marooned.
Siblings on the loose.
Fights.
Clashes.
Insults at best.
I place my head on a pillow.
Wondering.
Why is life
such a frightful sight?
—
Friends.
Betrayals.
The norm and not
the exception.
‘True friends”
they call themselves.
They leech you;
suck your savings,
then say you
“are
helping them”.
—
Twilight.
Grandfather chimes 12.
Drip. Drop.
Rain pelts my window.
Starts light the sky.
Blinking back towards
me.
—
From the room
I sigh.
This is what
solace
feels like.
